New figures released for the first quarter of 2012 have shown an interesting mix of highly financed videos and creative original ideas showcasing the online viral marketing sector.  

TomTom which is best known for it's sat navs has launched a new marketing campaign to help highlight its summer promotions this week. 

A new report released by 02 UK has shown that our smartphones have become a digital 'Swiss Army Knife' - capable of fulfilling a lot more uses than just regular texting and making calls.  

A new report by PEW - The Internet and American Life Project has highlighted some interesting figures about teenagers use of the internet today.  

For the past month, Skype has been trying to take on large social networks such as Twitter and Facebook in an effort to show that they are 'degrading humanity'.   

But, now they are trying something brand new - dubbed 'Humoticons' Skype believes they will catch on 'because nothing can replace the look on your face' they said in a blog post.  

With the recent purchase of Instagram by Facebook for a cool $1 billion dollars, the tech world has once again proven that despite any recessions, there is still money in the tech/smart economy.  

'CloudFlare' - which is a San Francisco based startup is also reported to be in talks to raise funding which would increase their valuation to a cool $1 billion dollars.  This is being reported by multiple sources close to the discussions.  

Cloudflare itself provides protection for websites from threats to their security along with increasing how quickly their websites loads.  

Facebook have announced a new addition to their ever growing collection of sites.  Called 'Facebook Stories', the main aim is to collect interesting stories from the facebook platform based on a different theme each month.  

The first month will focus on the theme of 'remembering'.  We've included the video below.  It showcases a man who has lost his memory, together with a piece about a New Yorker article which talks about 'remembering'.  

Speaking to ABCNews, Tucker Bounds of Facebook said "we wanted to create a place where we could celebrate great stories."
